Special Education Advocacy

Special Education Advocacy helps families feel less alone in the special education process. The program supports youth and families during CSE meetings, service planning, school communication, and advocacy for appropriate educational supports.

Directions in Independent Living serves individuals, families, veterans, caregivers, and community partners across Olean, Wellsville, Cattaraugus County, Allegany County, McKean County, and Potter County with a focus on independence, accessibility, self-direction, safety, and community participation.

Youth and Family Special Education Advocacy

The Youth and Family Special Education Coordinator provides advocacy to youths and their families during the special education process within the school district. This coordinator is able to attend CSE meetings to help the family and the school district come together in a positive way. This program is also affiliated with United Way of Cattaraugus to provide social events and group activities to youth in the catchment area.
