COMPEER Peer Support Program

COMPEER builds community connection through friendship. By matching trained volunteers with people receiving mental health services, the program helps reduce isolation and promote social support.

Directions in Independent Living serves individuals, families, veterans, caregivers, and community partners across Olean, Wellsville, Cattaraugus County, Allegany County, McKean County, and Potter County with a focus on independence, accessibility, self-direction, safety, and community participation.

Compeer is a friendship program that matches volunteers from the community with persons receiving treatment for mental health. Participants must be referred to this program by their mental health provider. The volunteer is cleared through background checks, references, and fingerprints, as well as completes training before meeting with their participant.
